Start with what you notice

What is the pressure doing?

Tank problems often show up as pump behaviour. Tell us what you’re seeing and we’ll trace it.

  • Rapid on-and-off cycling

The pump starts and stops often, even for a short draw.

  • Pressure swings

Strong one moment, weak the next, at the same tap.

  • A waterlogged tank

The tank sounds or feels full of water rather than air.

  • Moisture at the tank

Damp fittings, drips or rust around the tank or its connections.

Pump won’t stop running? Short cycling can wear a pump quickly. Call now. We can almost always be there today.

Why Duckett

Same day, almost every time. Priced before we start.

Two promises we keep, in our customers’ own words from Google.

Sometimes under 2 hours

Promise 1 · Same day

There today, almost every time.

Almost every visit happens the same day you call. Sometimes we’re at the door within two hours.

  • “From the time I called the office, a technician was at my house in 9 minutes.”
  • “Fast, friendly and efficient - went the extra mile to purchase needed garbage disposal and install same day.”

Then the work starts

Promise 2 · Written price

The price in writing, first.

The technician finds the cause and writes down the price before any work starts. You decide from there.

  • “…they came out. Diagnosed the problem. Got it fixed at an unbelievable fair rate…”
  • “…did the job in a timely manner, extremely fair priced, cleaned up the site…”

Why homeowners call Duckett

Know who’s coming. Before the first call.

Read what customers say on Google, then call. Duckett starts with what your well is doing and explains the options before any work begins.

These guys are awesome. I called and they were on it the next day. We had a water line installed from home down to dock, had a sewer leak, a toilet running, a hot water heater installed and low water pressure. They repaired everything. All the employees were so kind and done more that what they were supposed to do. I highly recommend this company to do a great job.

My son recently inherited a 1945 mill home from his grandparents. The home needs a complete rehab, but we were looking to make it livable until the spring. It’s in a very small town and plumbers willing to take the job are limited. From the very first phone call late on a Friday afternoon about a big water leak, to the completion of the job, Duckett Plumbing exceeded my expectations. These guys are so knowledgeable. They provided me with solid options based on our needs and budget. Wayne was the best! He completed all the work on our very necessary bathroom fixes. New toilet, new shower fixtures and new shower surround. He’s thoughtful of his work and provided the best customer experience. He went so far above and beyond what was requested.

What to expect

Find the cause, then fix the right part.

  1. Describe the pattern

Tell us how the pressure behaves and how often the pump runs.

  2. Test the tank and controls

A technician checks the tank, its charge and the parts that control the pump.

  3. Agree on the fix

Review what was found, and get a written price before repair or replacement starts.

Tank, switch and pump

The tank keeps your pump from working too hard.

A healthy tank stores water under pressure, so the pump runs in longer, steadier cycles. When it fails, the pump and switch feel it first.

  • Tank conditionSigns of waterlogging, leaks or a failed bladder.
  • Pressure and chargeHow the tank holds pressure against the system’s settings.
  • Pressure switchWhether the switch is starting and stopping the pump as it should.
  • Fittings and gaugeConnections, valves and the gauge around the tank.

Pressure tank questions

Common questions about well pressure tanks.

Answers depend on the tank, its age and how the rest of the system is working.

Why does my pump keep turning on and off?

Rapid cycling is a common sign of a tank that has lost its air charge or bladder, but a switch problem can cause it too. Both are checked.

Can a pressure tank be repaired?

Sometimes. It depends on what has failed. You’ll hear whether a repair or a replacement tank makes sense, and the pricing, before work starts.

Is a waterlogged tank a problem?

It can make the pump run far more often than it should, which adds wear. It’s worth having it looked at.

Could it be the pressure switch instead?

Yes. The tank and switch work together, so the diagnosis covers both.

Do you also handle the pump?

Yes. Duckett repairs and replaces well pumps as well as tanks and switches.
